② Tendon

Tempura is gradually becoming famous worldwide, but local people eat Tendon more often. Crispy tempura with sauce is really excellent. At first, I recommend a chain restaurant called Tenya, which is inexpensive and delicious.

Tonkatsu is a typical Japanese dish of deep-fried pork. If you want to eat a lot of rice, eat tonkatsu. The chain restaurant called Katsuya is recommended first.

⑥ Yakiniku

Whenever something makes them happy, Japanese people go to yakiniku. It is recommended because you can eat various parts of meat! I recommend the chain restaurant Gyukaku.

⑦ Takoyaki

Takoyaki is very popular in Southeast Asia these days. It is a small ball filled with an octopus. It is hot, fluffy, and super delicious. I recommend the chain restaurant Gindako.

⑧ Katsu Curry

⑨ Gyoza

Gyoza in Japan is eaten grilled. Gyoza is served as a side dish and eaten with white rice. It is the greatest happiness. I recommend the chain restaurant “Ohsho”.

⑩ Shabu-Shabu

Yakiniku is popular, but shabu-shabu is also popular. You put vegetables in a pot with soup stock, add thin slices of meat, and eat. It is delicious. I recommend a chain restaurant called On-yasai. The “On-yasai” is also a trendy dish.

What is UDON?

Udon is a thick noodle made from wheat flour, and it is prepared and served in various ways, like hot and cold, with egg on top, and with curry. But the most common way is KAKE UDON(かけうどん). It comes with hot soup made from dashi, soy sauce, mirin, and thinly chopped scallions. And also, Bukkake Udon(ぶっかけうどん) is very popular. This is cold udon with soy sauce. Yes, Udon is simple food. 

Where Can I eat Udon?

Udon restaurants can be found in every city and even in train stations. There are famous restaurants that serve delicious udon, but the one we will introduce here is a chain called Marugame Seimen. This is the right answer.

Marugame-Seimen

We Japanese love Marugame so much that Marugame has over 1000 stores all over Japan.

The meaning of Marugame is the name of a Japanese city. Udon noodles are also a specialty of Kagawa Prefecture, and Marugame, located in Kagawa, is the origin of the name.

What should I eat?

There are many types of Udon in Marugame. You might get lost. I highly recommend Cold Bukkake Udon and Hot Kake Udon. Those two are the most popular, and I always order those. and they also sell Tempura and rice balls on the counter. You can taste udon and others same time. Here is the menu link.

Tonkatsu is a thickly sliced pork loin or fillet coated with flour, egg, and bread crumbs deep-fried in oil. It is eaten throughout Japan and is popular overseas as one of the most representative Japanese foods. When it comes to tonkatsu, it is common to eat it with tonkatsu sauce, but you can add miso base, and the other way to eat katsu, like Katsudon with tonkatsu on top of rice with eggs, katsu curry with curry, etc., there is a way to eat that is loved by people.

History of Tonkatsu!

The French cutlet was brought to Japan, and in 1897, the Western-style restaurant “Renga-Tei” in Ginza put “pork cutlet” on the menu, which was the beginning of the style of Tonkatsu we know today. Unlike the thin, crispy French cutlets, the thickly cut, juicy pork was famous and became a soul food many people loved.

Saint Vincent at Otsuka

Saint Vincent is a French restaurant located in Otsuka. However, it becomes a Tonkatsu restaurant only on Fridays at noon. The juicy pork cutlets are loved by many customers.

Momoiwa Trekking Course

The 6.4-km-long course allows hikers to enjoy hiking while viewing the western coast with its cliffs and blue ocean. The maximum elevation difference is approximately 100 m uphill and 250 m downhill, with relatively few ups and downs. Since most of the hiking is on well-maintained trails, this course is recommended for first-time and beginner hikers.

Cape Tour Course

The course is approximately 13 km long and takes about 5 hours, starting from Cape Scoton, the northernmost point of Rebun Island, through Cape Gorota and Cape Sumikai to Hamanaka. Enjoy both the spectacular scenery and flowers.

Enjoy watching the sunrise with Mt.Rishiri

Get up early in the morning to see the sunrise. You can see the sunrise with Rishiri Fuji on Rishiri Island. The sunset is also very beautiful.

Eating Special Food in Rebun Island

Rebun Island is one of the best places in Japan to eat fresh seafood. Undan (sea urchin), kelp, etc., are famous. Grilled hokke is the best, so please enjoy it!

Staying Traditional Japanese hostel

I do love Jiro-Kei Ramen so much. It is very famous among the Japanese, but it is domestic. So I’ll explain it. Jiro-Kei Ramen refers to a style or lineage of ramen that takes “Ramen Jiro” as its original, typical, model, or standard. Ramen Jiro is a popular ramen restaurant founded in 1968 in Mita, Minato-ku, Tokyo. Where is Kobe, How to Get to Kobe?

Kobe is the capital of Hyogo Prefecture and is located in the Kansai region. It is a 30-minute train ride from Osaka and an hour from Kyoto. It takes about 3 hours from Tokyo by Shinkansen bullet train. Sannomiya Station is the center of Kobe.

What is the Kobe-style Gyoza

Gyoza is basically eaten with soy sauce and vinegar sauce, but in Kobe, it is eaten with a slightly spicy miso sauce. The original Gyoza-en was founded in 1951. The Miso Sauce was tried because it goes better with rice, and it was so well received that it continues to be served today.

HYOTAN（ひょうたん）at Sannomiya

Where can I try excellent miso-style gyoza in Kobe? I highly recommend Hyotan. Here is my favorite Gyoza restaurant. This popular restaurant was established in 1957. It now has six stores in Kobe. They only have Gyoza on the menu even though they don’t have rice which normally we find in gyoza restaurants. But there are long customer lines waiting for the gyoza. The original blend of red miso-based and moderately sized minced meat, etc., gives it an unforgettable taste when dipped in the one and only miso sauce.

How to eat miso-based gyoza?

First, with Hyotan’s special miso sauce. Second, mix vinegar and soy sauce (2:1). Next, mix vinegar and soy sauce (2:1). Finally, add raayu (Chinese chili oil) to taste. It is optional, you can add grated garlic.

Kobe has also great restaurants.

Ramen- Daiichi-Asahi

When you drink beer whatever alcohol, you should visit Daiichi-Asahi. You can have great Kobe-style Ramen. it’s so nice!

Toyama is my favorite city. But actually, it is not a very famous tourist destination. Toyama is highly my recommendation for all tourists, and they have everything. In this post 3 reasons to visit Toyama-ken , I wrote about the reasons. The main reason why I recommend it is SUSHI. You can enjoy the most delicious sushi in Toyama. Where is Toyama-ken

Toyama Prefecture is one of the prefectures in the Hokuriku Region. It is rich, located between the Sea of Japan and the Tateyama mountain range. A famous nearby city is Kanazawa. With the recent opening of the Shinkansen bullet train line from Tokyo, it takes only about 2 hours to get there from Tokyo.

Why is Sushi in Toyama so good?

Because Toyama Bay. Toyama Bay is so abundant with fish that it is called a natural fish tank. Nutritious melted snow water flowing from the Tateyama Mountain Range is one factor that makes the fish grow so delicious. Famous seafood here includes cold yellowtail, white shrimp, and firefly squid. Whatever you eat is delicious.

① Toyama sushi Taneya at Toyama airport

This is the best place. You will be surprised not only by the taste but also by its appearance. The chef is very friendly and will serve you sushi while explaining the process. You can enjoy the freshest and most seasonal sushi. It is located inside Toyama Airport, so if you are flying to Toyama, definitely stop by!

Gincho Iki-zushi

Gincho is a recently reopened restaurant. You can enjoy fresh Toyama fish purchased from the market every morning. Chirashi-sushi and sushi are available for lunch starting from 1,700 yen. I had the special top dish for 2,450 yen, which was very tasty.

Sushi-Tama at Toyama station

This is a trendy conveyor-belt sushi restaurant located in Toyama Station. Be careful during lunchtime, as there is a long line of people waiting. You can enjoy fresh seafood reasonably, costing about 3,000 yen.

Kito-Kito Sushi at Toyama station

Tama Sushi introduced earlier is always crowded, so in such cases, I also recommend Kitikito Sushi nearby. It costs about 2,000 to 3,000 yen.

Takayoshi Masu Sushi

Toyama Prefecture is also famous for trout sushi. This sushi is wrapped in leaves to make it last longer. The taste varies from restaurant to restaurant, so please try different restaurants. The local people do not eat it at the restaurant, but take it home to eat.

Supermarket is also great

Toyama is a seafood producing area. Therefore, you can find delicious sushi at any supermarket. If you are short on time, please visit a supermarket and look for sushi. It is very fun to visit local supermarkets.

Kasei Curry at Ikebukuro

I would like to introduce GoGo Curry. Some of you may know GoGo Curry as there are stores in the U.S. and other countries. There are 80 GoGo Curry restaurants throughout Japan. Gogo Curry is classified as Kanazawa Curry. Kanazawa is located in the Hokuriku region of Honshu. Kanazawa Curry features pork cutlet and cabbage in a thick curry sauce. It is a good quality dish at a low price. The cabbage is also all-you-can-eat.

Kitchen ABC is a taste of my college days. It is a popular set meal restaurant for students because of its large portions and reasonable prices. There are many dishes on the menu, such as pork cutlet and oriental rice, but I highly recommend you try their famous black curry. The slightly spicy, rich roux and juicy pork cutlet are a perfect match!

Where is Sendai and how to get Sendai?

Sendai is the capital of Miyagi Prefecture, located in the Tohoku region. It is the largest city in Tohoku and a metropolis of 1 million people. From Tokyo, it takes 2 hours by Shinkansen (bullet train) for 10,000 yen. By bus, it takes 5 hours and costs about 3,000 yen. From Sendai, you can take the Shinkansen to Yamagata, Iwate, Aomori, and other cities.

What is the specialty in Sendai?

Famous foods include the beef tongue(gyutan), sushi, and Zunda rice cakes. Especially beef tongue is one of the must-try food there. There are so many restaurants that have it, so let’s get started!
